Royal British Legion LogoThis year is the 35th anniversary of the Falklands War. Cinderford resident, Sapper Christopher Alan Jones, was killed two days before the conflict ended on 14 June 1982.  He was, in fact, the only person from the Forest of Dean, to be killed in this conflict.

In light of this, the Royal British Legion Cinderford Branch has arranged a service to be held in the Triangle, on Sunday 4 June commencing at 1.30 pm (to be confirmed) with Bream Silver Band in attendance. The Mayor of Cinderford, Roger Sterry will lay a wreath on behalf of Cinderford Town Council in honour of Christopher who died, aged 19. The service will be led by Branch Chaplain, Revd. Mike Barnsley.
