Salary scale: LC3, Grade 33-39, (£29,937 based on SCP 33) 

Hours per week: Minimum 30 hours per week

Cinderford Town Council is seeking applicants for the post of Town Clerk & Responsible Finance Officer. The ideal candidate will have experience as a Town or Parish Clerk or senior manager in a public sector organisation.  Ideally candidates should possess the CILCA qualification and have an understanding of local authority organisation and management.

You will have a proven track record in parish/town Council administration and financial management with experience of managing a small team.  You will be required to attend evening Town Council meetings and other meetings as needed.  This may involve some weekend work during the year. The role will involve the management of projects and the preparation of reports and funding applications for the Council.

Summary  

Cinderford is a former mining town situated in the beautiful Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire with a community of around 9,000 residents. 

The Council is very pro-active and has ambitious plans for the town. In addition to owning and operating The Belle Vue Centre (a multi-tenanted business centre) and an old bank in the Town Centre, the Council are currently looking to increase its portfolio with new exciting projects to improve the town centre for business and leisure and to support its citizens. 

The Council currently employs a full time Clerk, full time administrator and two full time  handymen. Plans are in place to recruit a Facilities and Business Manager along with an administrator. 

Due to the retirement of the existing Clerk, the Council is looking to employ a Clerk to help the  Council move forward with these exciting plans.
