The Forest of Dean District Council has granted us three free parking days to be used before the end of the year. We will have another six free parking days to use in 2018.

Parking charges will be suspended in the FODDC operated car park in Cinderford on the following dates.

  • Saturday 25 November (Christmas lights switch on)
  • Saturday 16 December
  • Saturday 23 December

This is the perfect opportunity to support our local businesses and shop local for Christmas.

Cllr Tim Gwilliam, Leader of the Forest of Dean District Council said: “We unanimously agreed the proposal to provide the Town and Parish Councils with up to six free parking days in a calendar year.  We have done so to give certainty to the town and parish councils involved and remove the requirement to make specific requests for relaxation of the charges each year.

“We hope the dates chosen by the town and parish councils will encourage people to get involved with the Christmas lights switch on events and to visit the district’s shops to support local traders in the run up to Christmas.”

  • When is the car park in Heywood Road going to be cleared, it was still covered in ice this morning. It is very dangerous for old people like myself.

    • Hi Ellen, FODDC have started to try and clear their car parks, including the one on Heywood Road but are struggling to clear some of the compacted ice. They may be able to provide further updates if you contact them directly.
